"Real World Helicopter Training" ^SM

We apply the knowledge and experience gained from decades of real helicopter work experience to your training. This environment puts the student ahead of those taught in the typical "training mill" type of flight school. We insist on turning out quality professional pilots with sound bases of judgment, character, skill, and safety.  We are a 7-day a week operation and can provide quality helicopter flight instruction to those students with difficult schedules, helping to ensure fewer lost training days.  The individualized attention provided by our instructors will tremendously speed up the learning process and provides a relaxed and comfortable situation for each student.  Our local weather provides around 300 flyable days per year and cheap transportation and housing is available locally.  Texas has no sales tax on helicopter training, so our flight instruction costs will be lower than at other helicopter flight schools.   

Our training programs prepare for the types of flying and environments experienced in real world helicopter work.  Brazos's management insists that all maneuvers are trained in a manner mirroring that of what is required and expected in the industry for safe and efficient operation.  We not only train flying skills, but logic and judgment in all the student's flying.  The student will perform real confined areas, real emergency procedures, real performance maneuvers, and real off-field operations tempered with attention to safety, detail, and good airmanship.  Our students finish with a thorough understanding of each and every maneuver, as well as, aircraft systems, mechanics, and aerodynamics.  Each student is treated as an individual in our one-on-one training atmosphere which greatly accelerates learning.  We also provide concurrent training, if desired,  that mixes the other training programs into the commercial phase of training.  This concurrent training saves both time and money.

Our fleet consists of Bell 47, Eurocopter SA-318C Alouette II, Bell 206, and Schweizer/Hughes 269/300 helicopters.  The Alouette II, and Bell 206 are used primarily for commercial jobs and are the proven turbine workhorses of the helicopter industry, with a safety record to match. The Schweizer/Hughes and Bell 47 helicopters are used for primary and instrument training and have recently been statistically determined to be the safest training helicopter built.  They may appear small, but easily accommodate large students with no problems. The Bell, Eurocopter, and Schweizer time gained at Brazos is well respected in the industry and aids career pilots in job placement.
